Watford City stepped their game up a notch last Tuesday as the Wolves pounded the Ray Jays 3-1 in varsity volleyball action.
But the Wolves didn’t fare quite as well when they took on some very tough North Dakota and Montana Class A schools at the Dickinson Tournament over the weekend.
This week, the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to Parshall on Thursday and then to Williston Trinity Christian on Monday.

Watford City 3, Ray 1
It was no walk in the park for Watford City last Tuesday evening as it took the Wolves four games to get by the Ray Jays.
The Wolves won the first game, 25-21, with Ray coming back to take the second game, 25-19. Watford City then took the final two games, 25-19 and 25-13, to take the win.
“We knew that Ray is a great defensive team capable of knocking off some top-rated teams, like they did to Stanley and Divide County,” stated Nancy Deutsch, Wolves’ head coach. “So we came out strong offensively and our defense played very well together.”
And Watford City’s offense was up to the test as the Wolves had 10 service aces and 36 kills against the Jays, while defensively the team had 74 digs.
“There were some very exciting plays and we had a few long rallies in a very good match,” stated Deutsch.
Amanda Mogen led the Wolves with four service aces, while Charlie Hystad had 10 kills. Mogen and Jessica Brown ended the match with four blocks each while Brianna Allex had 21 digs.
