Region 4 Quarterfinal Game
Watford City 53, Standing Rock 30
The Wolves traveled to Beulah for the first round of the Region 4 Tournament last Monday. They had little difficulty beating No. 7 Standing Rock. Watford City scored the first 15 points of the game and led 29-5 late in the second quarter. “We pressed and put a lot of pressure on defense,” said Watford City Head Coach, Tom Dwyer. “It created a lot of turnovers and gave us some easy layups.”
Senior, Jessica Mogen scored 19 of her game-high 25 points in the first half. She did not play in the fourth quarter. With a 34-point lead after three quarters, Watford City decided to rest their starters. “We knew we had a long week ahead of us so at that point in the game, it made sense to keep our legs as fresh as possible,” said Coach Dwyer.
Heavynn Eagle scored 17 points for Standing Rock in their final game of the year. For the game, Watford City shot 26-of-54 from the field for 48 percent and they forced 35 Standing Rock turnovers.
