The Watford City Wolves made their first road trip of the season and lost 30-0 at Valley City on Friday, Sept. 1.
The Hi-Liners scored a 65-yard touchdown on their first play from scrimmage as Bryson Heck connected with Connor Suhr. “It was a big momentum play that we never really recovered from,” said Watford City head coach Justin Johnsrud. “We talked all week that Valley City was going to come out with a higher level of intensity than we had seen in the past two games and that we had to ready to match that. There was a miscommunication on coverages defensively and Valley City had the perfect play called to take advantage of it. Call it luck or whatever but I’ll take the blame for that one.”
