Walleye sweep Sidney, Tioga

Watford City’s American Legion baseball team got off to a quick start to their summer season as the Walleye swept Sidney and Tioga in baseball action last week.
The Walleye opened their season downing Sidney, 5-3 and 8-5, and then upped their season record to 4-0 with 8-1 and 10-4 wins over Tioga.
This week, the Walleye will travel to Crosby for a double-header on Thursday and then host Tioga on Friday. Watford will close out the week’s schedule hosting Stanley on June 20 and travel to Makoti on June 21.

Watford City jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead over Sidney in the Walleye’s opening game of their American Legion season, and never looked back.
Doug Rolfson picked up the win for the Walleye striking out nine batters while giving up just one walk and six hits in seven innings of work.
The Walleye would add one run in the third and fifth innings to take the win.
In the second game, the Walleye had their bats come alive as Watford City scored eight runs on 12 hits to top Sidney 8-5.
But the Walleye found themselves trailing Sidney, 4-0, after two innings of play. Watford City would chip away at the lead, scoring one run in the bottom of the third before adding two more runs in the fourth as Nick Liebel homered to drive in Trey Jacobson.
Watford City would take the lead in the fifth inning, scoring four runs. Doug Rolfson got the Wolves going when he ripped a double that scored three runs, and then Rolfson scored on a Chris Larsen sacrifice.
The Walleye would add an insurance run to cap off the sixth inning.
Chaz Mosby picked up the win on the mound for Watford City as he struck out three batters while  giving up eight hits and walking three.

Watford City capped off their first week of play blasting Tioga, 8-1 and 10-4.
In the first game of the day, the Walleye out hit Tioga, 10-7, to take the win.
Watford City scored one run in the first inning, and then methodically kept on scoring runners. The Walleye would add two runs in each of the third and fourth innings before adding three runs in the top of the fifth.
Trey Jacobson earned the win for the Walleye striking out seven batters while giving up three walks.
In the second game, Watford City exploded for five runs in the first inning to set the stage for an easy win.
With Tioga trailing 7-4 going into the top of the fifth inning, the Walleye would tack on three more runs to take the win.
Brice Brenno picked up the win  for Watford City as he struck out seven batters while walking three in the five inning game.
