Spikers open with win over Killdeer

The Watford City varsity girls volleyball team opened its 2010 campaign with a rousing win over Killdeer on Tuesday defeating the Cowboys 3-2.
This week, the Wolves will be at New Town on Thursday before hosting an invitational tournament on Saturday.

In one of the best volleyball matches that area volleyball fans have been treated to in years, the Watford City Wolves bumped and dug their way to a hard-fought win over the Killdeer Cowboys.
The Cowboys easily won the first game of the best of five game match defeating the Wolves 25-15, but Watford City came back to edge Killdeer 25-23 in the second game. Killdeer took the third game 25-22 with the Wolves winning the fourth game 25-20. In the deciding fifth game, it was all Watford City as the Wolves rolled over the Cowboys 15-6.
Charlie Hystad led the Wolves with four service aces, while Dani Bates had eight kills. Bates and McKayla Haugeberg had 17 digs each for Watford City in the match.
