Watford City’s hopes of advancing to the State Class B Volleyball Tournament were dashed by the Ray Jays in the Region 8 Tournament title game on Thursday, Nov. 12.
“It was a tough loss,” stated Brad Foss, Wolves’ head coach. “We had a great run, but just came up short.”
The Wolves advanced to the Region 8 Tournament as the District 15 champions and then knocked off Stanley and Kenmare in the first two games of the regional tournament.

The Jays jumped out to a 25-21 first game win, with Watford City battling back to take the second game, 25-16.
The momentum then swung to the Wolves’ favor in the third game when Watford City could do no wrong, while Ray struggled against strong serving and dominating play at the net.
With a 25-9 third game win and a 2-1 lead, it looked like all Watford City needed was just one more win in order to punch their ticket to the state tournament.
