“We had a great weekend at the state track and field meet. The atmosphere is unbelievable. We witnessed many amazing performances from members of our own teams as well athletes from other teams. It is my opinion that nothing else compares to the state track and field meet. Athletes that we get to the state meet definitely see something that they want to be part of again, which motivates them to go to work and set some goals to get there again,” said Boys Head Coach David Gumke.
Because of injuries and other event conflicts, the boys were unable to have their regular relay teams, so they used three alternates to complete each four-man team.
“I am very proud of Jasiah Norton, Chase Cutshall, and Jayden Waggoner for their efforts in doing everything that they could to get the stick around the track. They now have a taste of what it is all about and will work hard to qualify their own events next season,” Gumke said.
The girls relay teams were more successful on the podium.
