The 2012 NDRA Championship Finals lived up to its billing as one of the nation’s top rodeo events when the state’s top cowboys and cowgirls converged on Watford City on Sept. 7 and 8 to see who would emerge as the state’s best.
And when the dust finally settled, Watford City was able to claim two of the best of the best. Samantha Jorgenson, a senior at Watford City High School, earned her spot at the top of the list with the 2012 Ladies All Around title, while Jim Hansen won the 2012 Steer Wrestling title.
Also named as the top cowboys and cowgirls for 2012 in the North Dakota Rodeo Association was Britt Luger, Men’s All Around and Saddle Bronc; Lee Dunford, Bareback Riding; Preston Billadeau, Calf Roping; Jackie Schau, Ladies Breakaway Roping; Jake Nelson, Team Roping header; Jared Bilby, Team Roping heeler; Katelyn Frederickson, Ladies Barrel Racing; J B Lord, Senior Men’s Breakaway Roping; and Tate Smith, Bull Riding.
