Oiler girls take fourth at State Tournament
The Watford City Oilers Girls team played in the State Hockey Tournament on March 6, 7 and 8 in Mayville, and skated to a fourth place finish.
The Watford City girls basketball team played their best game of the season on Thursday night as the Wolves defeated the Mandaree Warriors 64-50 to improve their season record to 10-15 and to take third place in the Region 8 Tournament. In the semifinal action of the tournament, the Wolves fell to New Town 43-34.
Mandaree upsets Wolves to win District 15 Tournament
Mandaree and Watford City will both be advancing to the Region 8 Boys Basketball Tournament, which starts on Monday, March 9 at the Williston State College. Mandaree pulled off the upset of the district tournament on Monday evening as the Warriors defeated the Wolves 71-65 to win the District 15 Tournament championship.
Wolves off to a good start
Watford City kept its winning streak intact last Tuesday as the Wolves defeated the Beach Bucs 72-50 to improve their record to 3-0.
Watford girls fall to Bucs 83-40
The Watford City varsity girls basketball team saw their season record drop to 2-5 last Tuesday as the Wolves fell to a very talented Beach Bucs team 83-40. This coming week, the Wolves will travel to Trenton on Thursday before hosting Bottineau Saturday afternoon.
Junior Gold skate to 5-2 win over Grand Forks
The Watford City Oilers, led by Alt. Captain Jacob Quale, skated to an impressive 5-2 victory over the defending State Champions Grand Forks Stallions in Junior Gold hockey action on Friday evening.
