Walleye improve to 13-3
The Watford City American Legion baseball team improved its season record to 13-3 and 5-1 in league play this past week as the Walleye swept Ray in two games before splitting with Tioga.
Wengel wins 2009 Homefest Road Race
Abe Wengel turned in a time of 32.23 to win the 10K run in the 2009 Homefest Road race held on Saturday, June 27, while Tricia Sundeen took the women’s honors in the 10K event with a time of 44.32.
Breuer wins bareback riding at NDRA Rodeo
For the second year in a row, the weather bested the top stock and cowboys during the Friday night performance of the McKenzie County Fair’s Rodeo. While heavy rain kept the fans out of the grandstands on Friday evening, clear sunny skies made for a wonderful night of rodeo action on Saturday.

Watford City’s Nick Liebel, a sophomore, battled back from an 8th place standing after shooting a seven over par, 79, on the first day of the Class B Boys State Golf Tournament to take second place individually and earn All-State honors.

Karson Pederson, a sophomore at Watford City High School, ended her golf season in a four-way tie for 54th place at the State Class B Girls Golf Tournament.
Girls 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams win State
Watford City’s relay teams turned in outstanding performances at the State Track and Field Meet in Bismarck last Friday and Saturday as the girls 1,600 and 3,200 meter relay teams captured first place finishes for the Wolves, while the girls 800 meter relay team took third place. In the boys division, Watford City’s 3,200 meter relay team took second place while the boys 1,600 meter relay team took fourth place.
