Warren Shelley

Warren Lynn Shelley, 74, of Jacksonville, Fla. passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. He was born in Wichita, Kan. on September 16, 1942.
Warren was raised in Watford City, N.D. where he graduated from Watford City High School. He served in the U. S. Army as a medic. He graduated from Blanton’s Business College and worked as a rate clerk for the trucking industry.
Warren was a lover of baseball, had a gift for writing, had a strong Christian faith and he frequently shared them all in a warm and friendly demeanor, full of humor and wit. Additionally, he loved road trips, reading Scripture, and spending time with good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Mildred Shelley;  his younger brother, Bryan Shelley of Hendersonville, N.C. He is survived by his brother, Stan Shelley and his wife, Jane of Hendersonville, N.C.; a niece, Elizabeth Hairgrove and her husband, Stephen of Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, John Shelley and his wife, Maggie of Hendersonville, N.C.
A service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, a Veterans Administration facility in Jacksonville, Fla. The service will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
