Susan Morin
Susan Avery Morin, of Bottineau, formerly of Watford City, passed away Oct. 1, 2012, in Minot. Funeral services were held Oct. 6, 2012, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bottineau with Reverend Joshua Reimche officiating. Susan was laid to rest at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau. Carol Echols served as organist and Jaci Oakland was soloist, singing How Great Thou Art.
Susan was born to Harry and Mary (Bulot) Avery, near Watford City, N.D., June 5, 1934. Susan attended a small country school until the third grade when the family moved to Watford City. Susan graduated from Watford City High School in 1953 and attended Minot Business College. There she met Ernest Morin. They married and lived in Fargo until 1959 when they moved to Lincoln Neb. Returning to Bottineau in 1971, Susan and Ernest bought a farm. In 1983, they built the Midway Service Station and it was in the family until 2006.
Susan was actively involved in the family businesses and enjoyed baby-sitting and caring for the elderly. She also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with the residents of Oak Manor where she lived.
The last few years she was able to travel and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of music and her kindness to her family and friends.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Jon) Oakland, of Temecula, Calif.; two stepsons, Gary (Julie) Morin and Vincent Morin, of Lincoln Neb.; four sisters, Betty Trollope, of Arizona; Carol (Wayne) Echols, of Missouri; Kathi Ereth, of Fargo, N.D. and Mary Andrews, of Texas; one brother, Robert, of Arizona; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Deb Morin.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her son, Steven; her stepson, Rodney; her parents; three brothers and one sister.
