MaryAnne Sorenson

MaryAnne Sorenson, 80, Keene, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, in a Minot hospital. MaryAnne was born June 3, 1934 on the family farmstead in Arnegard, N.D., the daughter of George and Clara Van Nurden. She was raised and educated in the rural Keene area.
On Nov. 1, 1951, MaryAnne was united in marriage to Raymond Sorenson at Keene First Lutheran Church. They made their home, farmed, and raised their family in the Keene area. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and telling them stories. In later years, she enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo with her sisters. She was a member of Keene First Lutheran Church.
MaryAnne is survived by her sons, Arnold (Melanie) of Keene and Perry (Gina) of Keene; Daughters, Sylvia Deserly (Randy) of New Town and Karen Berg (Doug) of Minot; grandchildren, Katia Hough, Londell Nissan, Darrion Sorenson, Jenny Sorenson, Caroline Sorenson, Michael Sorenson, Corey Berg, Troy Berg, Kayla Sorenson, Brittany Sorenson, Kasi Sorenson, and Crystal Hanna; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Leek and Della Knight; and brother, Charlie Van Nurden. She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents, eight brothers, three sisters, three foster brothers and grandson, Travis Deserly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Keene First Lutheran Church. Visitation was two hours prior to the start of the funeral, also in the church. Interment is at the Good Hope Cemetery, Keene, N.D. Langhans Funeral Home, Parshall, N.D., www.langhansfuneralhome.com
