Mark Wahlstrom

Mark Wahlstrom, 55, a longtime Williston resident, formerly of rural Alexander, N.D., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Williston, N.D.
His funeral was held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Faith United Methodist Church in Williston at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Britton officiated and interment followed in Riverview Cemetery.
Mark was born Nov. 18, 1956, in Sidney, Mont., to John and Katy (Buxbaum) Wahlstrom.
He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, and raised on the family farm/ranch northwest of Alexander. On the farm, he developed his love of hunting and riding motorcycles or anything with an engine. While in school at Alexander, he played the coronet in the band and ran track, and graduated from Alexander High School in 1975.
After high school, Mark started farming and ranching full-time. Being an industrious guy and a hard worker, Mark continually had another job going besides his farm work. He hauled beets for TranSystems for years, did pipe-fitting for Schwend Welding on the Phillips booster stations, also worked for Bomac Drilling, Williston Packing Plant, Dennis Barkie, Hexom Earth Construction, and helped Mark Owan on his farm. He began with the Williams County Highway Dept. some seven years ago, and was able to handle any task thrown at him.
Mark was an excellent driver and through the years, received many safety awards for his good driving record. He also had a great knack for numbers, whether knowing where a county road was or which cow had what ear-tag number.
Mark loved to spend his time outside tending to his yard, and consistently had one of the greenest, most lush lawns around. He continued to enjoy snowmobiling and ATVs, and listening to 70’s and 80’s music. He was a friendly outgoing guy who laughed easily and told great colorful stories.
On June 21, 1986, Mark was united in marriage to Rebecca Martin at Faith United Methodist Church. To the couple, two wonderful boys were born,
Surviving Mark are his two sons, Shane and Quinn Wahlstrom, of Williston; his father, John (Jackie) Wahlstrom, of Williston; his mother, Katy Wahlstrom, of rural Alexander; two brothers, Rodney Wahlstrom and Craig (Denise) Wahlstrom, all of rural Alexander; two sisters, Renae Riggins, of rural Alexander and Lynette (Kurt) Stoner, of Williston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
