Jeremy Wedge

Jeremy Daniel Wedge, 31, passed away on Nov. 16, 2016, at his home in Wasilla, Alaska surrounded by his loving family.

His family moved to Alaska in 1992, where he attended Butte Elementary School, Palmer Middle School and Palmer High School, graduating in 2003.
He received a BSE in 2009, from Minot State University and continued working on his Master’s Degree in Special Education from UAA, coming close to receiving it before his illness kept him from finishing.
Jeremy married Ashley Liebel on July 10, 2009, and they began their family having two children; four-year-old Hannah and one-year-old Daniel.
Jeremy was a substitute teacher for the Mat-Su Borough School District from 2010-2016.
He enjoyed sports and played baseball with the Bobcats in the Anchorage Adult Baseball League since 2003. The Jeremy Wedge Perseverance Award was established in his honor in 2016. His favorite MLB baseball team was the Mariners.
He also enjoyed fishing, hiking, playing games like Pinochle, spending time with his family, and earning a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. A favorite moment was when he took a family vacation to Orlando, Fla. and the Bahamas in March 2016, with Ashley’s students from Wasilla High School.
Jeremy was an educator, father and husband who waged a valiant 10 year battle with cancer.  Throughout that time, he was an avid baseball player, fierce friend and historian. When asked, “Who do you want to be when you grow up?” As a young child, Jeremy’s response was always, “I want to be a dad.” With a young daughter and son, his family was his greatest achievement.
