Ida Borgny Renbarger, 85, Arnegard, N.D., died peacefully in her sleep after a long fight with Alzheimer’s, May 6, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, N.D.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., in the Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard, N.D., on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Borgny was born Sept. 6, 1928, on the Knute Hagen Ranch in the Red Wing area, to Andrew and Inga (Skaaren) Granli. They spent the next winter with the Andrew Nelson family at their farm.
She was baptized in November of 1929 at Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard, and was also confirmed there. In 1946, Borgny graduated from Arnegard High School. After graduation she attended teachers’ education classes at Minot State to get her North Dakota teaching standard and then taught at the Clark school south of Arnegard.

She also had great affection for her many pets throughout the years.
Borgny and her family moved from the Banks area farm to Watford City in 1960. She worked as a receptionist for doctors in Watford City, then went to work for the A.S.C.S. Office. Ending her out-of-home career, she worked for Eklund Brothers/Koch Industries.
Borgny enjoyed needlepoint, which she learned on her first trip to Norway in 1978. She stitched Norwegian keepsakes for all of her family. She also enjoyed bowling with her friends and their fun trips to Las Vegas. She was a member and officer of the V. F. W. Auxiliary.
In the mid 1990’s, Arnold and Borgny moved to the Granli farm where she loved her gardening, pickling, pie baking, and driving the occasional tractor.
Borgny is survived by her children; Patricia (Bruce) Jaeger of Hebron, N.D., Jerome Renbarger, Warren Renbarger of Watford City, N.D., David (Carmela) Renbarger of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; sister, Arlene (Roy) Pedersen of New London, Minn.; grandchildren, Ryan Jaeger of Fargo, N.D., Christine (Jason) Dirk of Bismarck, N.D., Stephanie Jaeger of Bismarck, N.D., Eric Renbarger, Kati (Noah) Drew, and Mark Renbarger of Jackson Hole, W.Y., Derek (Jenny) Maattala of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ethan Renbarger of Bismarck, N.D.; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Evan Dirk of Bismarck, N.D. and Zander Maattala of Sioux Falls, S.D.
