Elaine Mead

Elaine Mead, 86, of Grassy Butte, N.D., died Saturday morning, at Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer, N.D. 
Elaine Tiegs was born on Aug. 2, 1929, in Croft N.D., to John and Martha (Veeter) Tiegs. She was the ninth of 11 children in her family.
Elaine attended Lookout, Pleasant Valley, Rocky Glen elementary schools and Watford City High School.
Elaine met Robert Mead while working at the Anthony Café in Watford City. They married on Oct. 5, 1950. After they married, they made their home on their Mead ranch in Grassy Butte, N.D. From this marriage two sons were born, David F. Mead and Robert D. Mead.
Elaine enjoyed life to the fullest! Some of her many interests included spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening, drives in the country, going to church, and visiting siblings.
Elaine was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She made bacon and pancakes for her grandchildren every morning when they were at the ranch. Elaine also enjoyed playing games with her family and friends; with Rummy and Shanghai being a couple of her favorites.
She is survived by her sisters, Alva and Deloris; her sons, David and Robert; grandchildren, Jessica (Brock) Wojahn, Justin (Jessi) Mead, Melissa (Trevor) Hitchcock; great- grandchildren, Parker Frenzel, Rylee Wojahn, Isabella Hitchcock and Grace Wojahn.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and siblings, Lyle, Mildred, Hattie, Everett, Earl, Lula, Lorna and Vernon.
Visitation was from 11 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City, N.D. A family service followed at 5 p.m. Funeral Services were at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Grassy Butte at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pastor Heide officiated and burial will be in Grassy Butte Cemetery.
