Edwin Thomas Ough was born to Percy and Florence (Bishop) Ough at Alexander, N.D., on June 28, 1921, and raised on the family homestead southwest of Alexander. He attended Rowe School near the farm through the eighth grade.
He remained on the family homestead and farmed with his father and eventually took over the operation. During his time, he expanded the farm and ranch and continued to raise small grains and cattle through the years. He retired from ranching in 1995.
Edwin was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He had a strong bond with his faith and the church. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years and served as the church treasurer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was younger. He was devoted to leaving the lands in good condition and was instrumental in practicing soil conservation methods. Over the years, he planted many trees and built stock dams to improve his operation.
He is survived by his brother, Edwin (Lois) Ough, of Williston, N.D.; nephews, John E. (Rosie) Ough, of Watford City, N.D., Michael Ough, of Portland, Ore., Bishop Bruce (Char) Ough, of Columbus, Ohio;  Steve and (Linda) Ough, of Bozeman, Mont,; niece, Debra Sellheim, of St. Paul, Minn.; and numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces; and special friend, Yvonne Sorenson,  who brought much joy to Edwin’s later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Greg Ough; brother, Ernest Ough; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Ough.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon and one hour prior to services at the church.
