Cleone Turnquist

Cleone Turnquist, 72, of Arnegard, N.D., passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at McKenzie County Hospital, Watford City.
Cleone was born on August 6th, 1944, in Spokane, Wash. to Orian and Florence (Alex) Tweden. The family returned to McKenzie County in 1945 and resided on a small farm 15 miles north of Watford City, N.D. Cleone attended Kinning School north of Watford City and graduated from WCHS in 1962. She married Dwayne Turnquist of Arnegard, N.D. on January 15, 1965. They have two children, Wayne and Lorie.
Cleone enjoyed being a homemaker, ranching, and cooking. She worked for the PDQ in Arnegard, N.D. for 18 years; and for several years at the Good Shepard Home and the McKenzie County Hospital in Watford City, N.D. She retired in 2007. She was a member/officer of the Hospital Auxiliary, Wilmington/Zoar Ladies Aid, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved family gatherings, and entertained us all with her humorous poetry and the music from her family’s band the Jolly O’s. Cleone also enjoyed helping out her husband on the family farm and ranch.
She is survived by her husband, Dwayne of Arnegard, N.D.; her children, Wayne of Williston, N.D. and Lorie (Nathan) Hillstad of Epping, N.D.; sister, Carol (Sidney) Moore of Franklin, Ohio; and her brother Dale (Mary) Tweden of Parker, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Lynn Tweden of Watford City, N.D., and Faye (Bob) Gudmunsen of Arnegard, N.D.; brother-in-law Eugene (Sharian) Turnquist of Watford City, N.D.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews; and one aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orian Tweden and Florence Tweden Jore; brothers, Gerald and Ordean Tweden; and brother-in-law Gerald Turnquist.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in Cleone’s name to Wilmington/Zoar Cemetary Fund in Arnegard, N.D.
Funeral arrangements are with Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City, N.D.
A family service was held at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City, North Dakota.
Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard, N.D. Pastor Garrett Gudmunsen and Pastor Rob Favorite co-officiated. Burial was held in the Redwing Cemetery, south of Arnegard.
