Charlotte Chornuk

Charlotte Irene Chornuk 83, of Gillette, Wyo., passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017, at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyo.
Charlotte was born on January 8, 1934, in Dunn Center, N.D. to Theodore and Blanche (Bell) Wenzel. The family later moved to Parshall, N.D. where she graduated from high school. She married Melvin Hines on October 24, 1952. Born to this union were three children; Carol, Bob, and Dean. She and Melvin later divorced. She married Andy Chornuk on February 14, 1959 in Rocksprings, Wyo. To this union were born three children; Rick, Tammy, and Traci. She and Andy lived in Keene, N.D. for many years. She owned a grocery store and he had a welding shop. They moved to Williston for a short time, then to Billings, Mont., then to Plaza, N.D. and Parshall, N.D. and eventually to Gillette, Wyo. She played the piano, mandolin, banjo, and accordion. She enjoyed having a good music jam with family and neighbors. She also loved to take a trip to Deadwood, S.D. to try her luck at the slots. She usually was the lucky one.
She is survived by her sons Dean (Lynne) Hines of Gillette, Wyo., Rick (Ann) Chornuk of Alexandria, Minn.; daughters, Tammy (Steve) Overlease of Laird, Colo., and Traci (Steve) Burr of Gillette, Wyo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy; her parents, Ted and Blanche Wenzel; daughter, Carol Hoy; son, Bobby Hines; granddaughter, Marcie Marie Hines; brother, Aaron Wenzel; sister, Joyce Lee; and brother-in-law, Harry Lee.
A special thank you to the entire staff and friends at the Legacy for all you did for Charlotte to enrich her final days here on earth. God Bless each of you.    
Memorial service for Charlotte Chornuk will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Gillette Memorial Chapel in Gillette, Wyo., with Bonnie Driskill officiating. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017, at Clear Creek Cemetery in Keene, N.D.
