Brenda Stoner

Brenda Kay Stoner, 53, of Sheridan, Wyo. passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, due to surgery complications at Billings Clinic, in Billings, Mont.
She was born on July 2, 1962, in Williston, N.D. to Mervin and Arlene Johnson and raised on the family ranch outside of Watford City, N.D. Brenda was baptized in Keene, N.D. and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church of Watford City.
Brenda attended Watford City High School and graduated with honors in 1980. She went on to earn her Associates of Arts degree from UND Grand Forks where she played collegiate volleyball. While attending UND, Brenda met her future husband, Craig Stoner.
Brenda and Craig were married in Watford City, N.D. on July 23, 1983, at First Lutheran Church. Together they raised two sons, Cye and Clay, both born in Williston, N.D. The family enjoyed traveling and during a trip in 1990, passed through Sheridan, Wyo., where they soon moved and fell in love with the town and its people.
Brenda lived a caring life, always making others a higher priority than herself, and this was also reflected throughout her career. While living in Williston, Brenda worked at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home as a CNA. Once in Sheridan, Brenda began working as an ophthalmic technician at the Eye Clinic of Northern Wyo. During an interim at the clinic, she worked for Wyoming Independent Living, and then continued to work for the eye clinic, totaling 19 years.
Growing up, Brenda actively participated in 4-H horsemanship, breaking her beloved Arabian horse Benejha. She enjoyed flowers and plants around the house, especially African Violets, and loved reading so much that there was always a book within arms reach. Brenda also enjoyed interior decorating and had a knack for pairing subtle colors. In 2014, Brenda and Craig bought their dream home at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains where she continued to make their house a home. Brenda was always happy to share their home and loved to visit and drink coffee with friends and family.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 32 years, Craig; children, Cye Stoner and his future wife Lenae Andersen of Austin, Texas, and Clay and Shelly Stoner of Sheridan, Wyo.; mother, Arlene Johnson of Watford City, N.D.; sisters, Corene (Jon) Nelson of Frederick, Colo. and Arlys Frazier of Watford City, N.D.; brother, Zane Johnson of Buffalo, Wyo.; faithful companion, Hank the terrier; numerous nieces and nephews; and will be missed by her many, many friends who she has always kept in touch with.
