Bernice Munyer

Bernice Munyer, 83, of Williston, N.D., died at Mercy Medical Center in Williston on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2011.
Her funeral will be celebrated Thursday morning, Oct. 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Williston. Rev. Marianne Ell will officiate, and interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Bernice Irene May Hagen was born June 3, 1928, to Knut and Barbara (Bakke) Hagen, Norwegian immigrants who ranched near Arnegard, N.D. She was the youngest of four children, Kenneth, Orven and Arnold Hagen.
In her younger days she loved to ride horses with her friends and brothers at the ranch, which bordered the beautiful North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. She was always surrounded by her pets and continued her love of animals throughout her lifetime.
She was united in marriage to Donald Munyer on June 5, 1949, in Williston. They had two children, Linda Swenson (Bing Swenson), who lives in Williston, and Donna Munyer, who lives in Denver, Colo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tanya Haley (Mike and their children, Jacob and Benjamin), Adeana Johnsen (David and their children, Logan and Grayson) and Trent Swenson (Tiffany). She is also survived by her good friend and neighbor, Dorothy Hinsverk, her nieces and nephews, and two of her loving pets, Moxie and Muffin.
Bernice was a very caring person to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and friends. She loved spending time with them.
Bernice also loved to crochet, read, play cards and go shopping, but golf, not so much. Since her husband loved to golf, she learned. They loved to travel and went to many exotic locations together. They were snowbirds for several years, residing in Phoenix, Ariz., during the winter season.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and many of her closest friends.
She passed away quickly with her oldest daughter by her side. She will be dearly missed in our hearts forever.
