Ann Hinsverk

Ann Hinsverk, 93, of Williston, N.D., formerly of Keene, N.D., passed away Friday evening, Aug. 19, 2016, at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Williston.
Mary “Ann” Hinsverk was born Sept. 22, 1922, to Newton O. and Marit (Sherven) Simonson.
She was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church at Keene, ND. She was raised on the homestead farm at Keene, N.D.
She attended school through 8th grade at the Keogh School and attended high school in Sanish, N.D. graduating with the class of 1940.
Following graduation she spent a year at home caring for sick family members.
In 1941, Ann attended Minot Beauty College and after graduation went to work at Edie’s Beauty Shop in Sanish, N.D. She then moved to Williston and went to work for Eleanor (Hagbo) at Eleanor’s Beauty Shop until 1944.
Ann was united in marriage to Al Hinsverk on Jan. 3, 1944, in Sidney, Mont.
They lived on the Hinsverk family farm in Bonetraill, N.D. until the fall of 1945, when they moved to Old Sanish. There they purchased the Jacobson Model Meat Market and in 1954, moved the business to New Sanish, opening up a grocery store where she operated a lunch counter, a gathering place for all the locals.  
In 1961, the store was closed and the following year they moved to the homestead at Keene. In September, 1977, they moved to Willliston.
Al passed away in 2001 and she continued living in the house before moving to the Kensington and later to Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ann loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. She was a member of the Saddle Club for many years and was known for helping neighbors with round-ups. She also loved gardening, canning, working outside and playing Gin Rummy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al; brothers, Henry, Alvin and Kenneth.
Ann is survived by her nieces, Shirley (Ben) Spensieri of Greeley, Colo. and Teresa Simonson of Denver, Colo.; brother-in-law, Dale Hinsverk of Wahpeton, N.D.; sister-in-law, JoAnn Gronseth of Williston, N.D.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service was celebrated Friday morning, Aug. 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in New Town, N.D. Rev. Robert Schmidt officiated and interment followed in the Sanish Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be directed to Bethel Lutheran Home, New Town Senior Citizen Center or the Charity of ones choice.
Friends called at the Everson Coughlin Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Chapel from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., and one hour before service time at the Bethel Lutheran Church in New Town, N.D. on Friday.
