Ann Fisketjon

Funeral service for Ann Fisketjon, 90, Watford City, N.D., is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the First Lutheran Church of Watford City with Pastor Rob Favorite officiating. Interment will be in the Schafer Cemetery, Watford City, N.D., under the care of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 4, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before service at the church. Family service is at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and everyone is welcome.  Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.fulkersons.com.    
Ann Fisketjon, 90, of Watford City went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in the McKenzie County Hospital due to complications from influenza A.
Ann was born on March 30, 1922, in rural McKenzie County, N.D., to Oscar and Mathilda Forland. She attended a rural McKenzie County school during her elementary years. She graduated from Watford City High School in 1940. With a high school diploma, she taught at a rural elementary school.
She married Ole Fisketjon in December of 1940 in Sidney, Mont. They made their home briefly near Watford City, N.D. They moved to Seattle, Wash., during World War II where they both worked in industries supporting the war effort. Daughter Anita was born to them while they were in Seattle.
In 1945, they returned to Watford City where Ole was employed at various farming and ranching positions including the Angus Kennedy Sr. Ranch. Ann kept the household running and cooked for the ranch crew. They especially enjoyed her home baked bread and pies.
In 1949, Ann and Ole moved back to the town of Watford City where their daughter Julie was born. Over the years, Ann worked at various positions. She was part of the first employee group at Larsen Service Drug. She worked many years at the A.S.C.S. Federal Agricultural Office administering the wheat program. Her last years of employment were as deputy to the McKenzie County Superintendent of Schools.
In the spring of 2012, Ann moved into the Horizon Assisted Living facility in Watford City. She so very much enjoyed her community of friends there. She especially loved the sing-alongs.
Ann was a dedicated woman of God. She was a student of the Bible and loved Bible studies with her friends. She was a real prayer warrior and her knowledge of the Bible was phenomenal. She so loved inspirational books, music and she loved to garden.
Her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and her many friends were the true joy of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita (Gary) Sax of Williston, N.D., and their children, Jennifer Sax, Michael (Mary) Sax and Amie (Mark) Peterson, great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Tristin, Hannah, Abby and Teagan; her daughter, Julie (Mike) Marsland of Rapid City, S.D., and their children, Allison Marsland, Liz (David) Sagaser and Jacque (John) Simpkins, great-grandchildren, Ethan, Spencer, Cameron, Paisley, Truett and Evelyn Ann; her sister, Minerva (Fabian) Zimmerman; her brother, Leonard (Gail) Forland and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ole; her parents; brothers, Olaf, Melvin, Alfred, Herman and Clarence; and sister, Martha; special niece, Gloria; and several other nieces and nephews.
