Agnes Monson

Agnes Corenne Monson was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Charbonneau, N.D., to parents Hans and Andrina (Klavold) Gunderson. She was the youngest of six children. She married Floyd Monson on May 3, 1946, in Sidney, Mont. To this union five children were born, Harold, Faye, Floyd A. Georgia, and Carla. They farmed in the Alexander area until they moved into Alexander in 1995. She enjoyed keeping busy mowing grass and tending flowers visiting with neighbors and going to the Alexander Senior Center. Floyd passed away on Jan. 7, 2002, in Williston, N.D. In 2013 Agnes moved to the Horizon Assisted Living later moving to the Good Shepard Home and then to the Sidney Extended Care.
Agnes enjoyed helping with the farming while Floyd worked off the farm. She milked the cows, took care of the gardening, and tended the flowers. She was an amazing cook and baker. She also enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, cards and bingo. Agnes was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the King’s & Queen’s Card Club, the Birthday Club, and the Nutty Knitters.
Agnes died on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, Mont.
Agnes is survived by her son, Harold (Myrna) Monson, Alexander, N.D.; daughters, Faye (Bob) Gudmunsen, Arnegard, N.D., Georgia (John) Holbrook, Bismarck, N.D., Carla (Jim) Stomley, Alexander, N.D.; daughter-in-law, Linda Monson, Alexander, N.D.; sister, Alice Francis, Portland, Ore.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd S.; son, Floyd A. Monson; son-in-law, Gerald Turnquist; grandson, Kelly Holbrook; great-granddaughter, Kylee Foster; brother, Gilbert Gunderson; sisters, Sigrid, Sally and Gunhild.
Funeral service for Agnes Monson, were held at 10 a.m. (CST), Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Garret Gudmunsen and Pastor Kevin Beard officiated. Interment followed in the Highland Cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson-Stevenson Funeral Home of Sidney, Mont.
