Denton Zubke of Watford City will be seeking the Republican endorsement for the District 39 House of Representative position that became open following the announcement of David Drovdal that he will not be seeking re-election.
“In a rural state such as North Dakota, we assume that the Legislature will make the best and fairest laws in the best interest of the state and all the citizens,” states Zubke. “It takes a lot of time, effort and most importantly, relationship building with legislators from across the state to accomplish what is needed for District 39.”
According to Zubke, who was born and raised near Grassy Butte and currently lives south of Watford City, District 39, and in particular McKenzie County and Watford City, need strong committed leadership since these areas are bearing the brunt of oil development and all the infrastructure and public safety needs that come with it.
Zubke has been the CEO of Dakota West Credit Union since 1987, which has offices in 10 rural communities in western North Dakota. He has also served McKenzie County through roles on the Job Development Authority since 1988, serving  many years as chairman; the McKenzie County Water Resource District since 1988, serving many years as chairman; the Western Area Water Supply Authority since its inception in 2010, where he is currently serving as its chairman; the Watford City Chamber of Commerce, and the First Lutheran Church Council.
“I’ve been an integral part of very successful legislative efforts that delivered $230 million to provide improved water supplies to meet the needs of our growing region,” states Zubke. “With the current budget surplus of the state and incredible infrastructure needs throughout the state, we need legislative leadership with financial acumen and strategic financing experience in order to meet needs throughout the state while being fiscally responsible.”
In addition, Zubke states that his  extensive banking background would make him an asset to legislative leadership in planning for the needs throughout the state, while delivering adequate financial resources to meet this district’s significant infrastructure and public health and safety needs.
“I am ready to make a commitment and work for District 39 in particular, for our roads, our safety, our schools, our human and health services, and our way of life,” states Zubke. “I will give it my very best.”
