Third grader Monroe Devlin named Mayor for the Day

To celebrate City Government Week, the third graders of McKenzie County Public School District No.1 submitted essays to explain what they would do if they were the mayor. One essay really stood out, and Monroe Devlin, from Ms. Longbrake’s class at Badlands Elementary, won the opportunity to be mayor for the day.
Her first duty as mayor was to preside over the Watford City Council Meeting on Monday, April 1. She said her favorite part of the meeting was using the gavel. When asked if there was anything exciting that happened at the meeting, Monroe nonchalantly stated that it was “just the usual stuff.”
