As I see it

This week, the McKenzie County Farmer along with newspapers across the United States are carrying the message, “When You Are On Your Own, We’re There With You” on their front pages.
It is an important reminder to everyone that newspapers always have been, and continue to be one of the most trusted sources of information that you have. Newspapers have always provided their readership and the communities that they serve with a wealth of information on the issues that matter most to them.
It is the responsibility that newspapers and their staff don’t take lightly. Newspapers owe it to their readers to provide clear and concise information. And for as long as newspapers have existed, they have become that trusted news source.
And here at the McKenzie County Farmer, we recognize the importance of being a source of news that you can turn to. We are proud that we are the oldest business in McKenzie County and for 112 years we have been covering the news that impacts the lives of our area’s residents.
We’ve covered how floods, fires, droughts, tornadoes, wars and health emergencies and other local, state or national emergencies have impacted the lives of our area residents. And did it in a way that provided our readers with hope.
And that is the same way that we are approaching our coverage of the COVID-19 virus and how it is impacting the lives of those living in McKenzie County.
But as we know the COVID-19 virus has radically changed the world as we know it with businesses closing or being forced to restrict their operations. These closures are not only threatening these businesses, but also ours as well as we rely on advertising and subscribers to meet all of our operational costs.
America, North Dakota, and McKenzie County will beat the COVID-19 virus. We just need to remain vigilant when it comes to our personal health and be proactive in preventing the spread of the virus.
And when it is safe for all of us to be able to resume our normal lives, you can trust that the McKenzie County Farmer will still be there for you.
