Lynn Wollan

Lynn Sanford Wollan, 92, of Watford City, N.D., passed away at noon on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the McKenzie County Hospital in Watford City, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City.  Intern Pastor Rob Favorite will officiate and interment will be held at Schafer Cemetery in Watford City. Lynn was born Feb. 11, 1918, to Torkel and Julia (Gunderson) Wollan on the family farm northwest of Keene. He was baptized and confirmed in Keene Lutheran Church and attended rural school in Keene.  He joined the CCC’s in the late 1930s, and then worked in Washington State at various jobs before moving back to North Dakota.
Lynn married Mildred Erma Felland on Sept. 7, 1939, in Sidney, Mont. He farmed for a brief period of time before going to work in the oilfields. He worked primarily for Texaco for nearly 25 years before retirement.
He liked to fish and to go camping with his family at Bear Den and Tobacco Gardens; he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family, whom he loved very much. He celebrated his 71st wedding anniversary with his loving wife, to whom he still referred to as sweetheart.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Mildred; their five children, daughter, Linda (Barry) Nelson of Oxford, Mich.; sons, David (Myrna) Wollan of Shelby, Mont., Cornell (friend Laurel) of Arnegard, N.D., Miles (Sandra) Wollan of Watford City, and Arden (Pyong) Wollan of Cassatt, S.C.; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Don) Evans of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Telford (Lenore) Wollan of Chicago, Ill., and Arne (Millie) Wollan of Watford City; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma Graue and Inez Thompson; brothers, George Wollan and Arnold Wollan; and grandson, Jeffrey Nelson.
 Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City an hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
