Greg Christianson

Gregory Paul “Catfish” Christianson, 58, of Watford City, N.D. passed away at his home in Watford City of natural causes on April 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Fulkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Watford City. Pastor Barb Becker will officiate and interment will follow at Schafer Cemetery. Friends may share their condolences with the family online at www.fulkerson.com.
Greg was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Minot to Luverne and Jean Wrolstad. They lived in Mohall until 1953 when Greg and his mother moved to Watford City to live with his grandparents. In 1956, Jean married John Christianson who later adopted Greg. He attended school in Watford City graduating from WCHS in 1969. Greg was proud to serve as a Corpsman in the United States Navy from 1970-1974, and throughout this tour, he visited Vietnam, the Philippines, and Japan.
Greg enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and fishing of all types. He collected eagle and wildlife figurines and liked to try new recipes. In 2004, Greg was able to see his favorite band, The Eagles, in concert. He was very proud of to be a member of the American Legion Drill Team. Greg enjoyed spending time with his good friends. He was close to his grandma, Elsie, making sure to call her every Sunday.
Greg is survived by his grandmother, Elsie Jacobson, Stanley, N.D.; brother, Tim (Karin) Christianson, Tioga, N.D.; nieces, Cassie (Kameron) Plienis, Linton, N.D., Angela (Kris) Rafferty, Watford City, Annie (Cody) Knetzger, Northwood, N.D., and Emy Christianson, Tioga, N.D.; and nephew, Jamie (Miranda) Christianson, Northwood, N.D. He is also survived by his dog, Buddy, and many close friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; step-mother, Olive; fathers, Luverne and John; his sisters, Gwen Wrolstad, Margaret Christianson and Jackie Tangedal.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
