In 1968, he was honorably discharged at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and he returned home to the Arnegard area.
Upon his return, he farmed the family farm and raised cattle, horses and grain. He did some custom combining in the area for a time and worked for a time for Golden Valley Meats in Minnesota. Later, Arnold was a truck driver in the oil fields, first working for True Oiland and most recently as a Safety Control and Quality Control Officer for the local Belle Fouche Pipeline. For the past number of years, due to his health, Arnold was retired; work, though, of all kinds, was his passion.
He was a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard, and was a past member of Zoar Lutheran Church. Arnold enjoyed hunting deer in the fall and took pride in being a horn hunter.
He is survived by his sons, Jason and Aric Anderson of Fargo, N.D.; and daughter, Billie Zoe Rauser of Walhalla, N.D.; three grandchildren; brother, Donald (Leitha) Anderson of Gillette, Wyo.; and sisters, Beverly (Marv) Marthaller of Dickinson, N.D. and Melody (Bill) Cannon of Palm Harbor, Fla.
