Cori Sollom

Cori Sollom, 49, of Ray, N.D., died peacefully Wednesday evening, Jan. 6, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at the First Lutheran Church Chapel in Williston, N.D. Pastoral Assistant Rob Favorite officiated. Cremation has taken place, and her cremains were buried in the Riverview Cemetery in Williston, N.D., following the service. Cori Beth Sollom was born June 10, 1960, to Richard and Swany Sollom (Hought) in Grand Forks, N.D. When Cori was a young girl, the family moved to California, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from high school in San Mateo, Calif.
She married Steven Rogers in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1979. Together they had two children, Stephanie and Troy. In 1982, Cori gave birth to her third child, Sara.
Cori was later married to Bob Blackford on Dec. 29, 1984, in Williston, N.D. To this union Kaitlan was added to the family. Cori was a homemaker, raising her children and enjoying her quilting and sewing, while Bob worked in the local oil development.
In August 2007, Cori married Greg Hunter in Fort Collins, Colo. The couple moved to the Grafton, N.D., area, where they both worked. Upon Cori’s cancer diagnosis and treatments, she moved to Ray, N.D., to be closer to family.
Cori was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed quilting and interior decorating, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Swany (Don) Schmidt of Watford City, N.D.; children, Stephanie (Daniel) Shannon of Westminster, Colo., Troy (Tina) Blackford of Thornton, Colo., Sara Blackford (Russ Lovato) of Denver, Colo., and Kaitlan Blackford (Marshall Grant) of Ray, N.D.; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Brad (Marilyn) Sollom and their children, Kristy and Zach, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Richard Sollom of Boston, Mass.
Cori was preceded in death by her father, Richard Sollom; and her grandparents, Jerry and Lillian Lindstrom, and Dave and Iva Hought.
