Clayton N. Okland

Long time educator, counselor, avid reader, lover of music, and his garden, Clayton Okland, of Robbinsdale, Minn., died on Nov. 6, 2015.
Clay was born on April 7, 1944, to Thomas H Okland and Dorothy (Veeder-Okland) Lawlar.
His formal education began in a one room country school. He graduated from Watford City High School in 1962 and Jamestown College in 1966.
Clay’s teaching focus was on special education and teaching the emotionally and behaviorally disordered youth. Subsequent to his retirement from teaching, he began working as a behavioral specialist working with brain injured adults.
He is survived by brothers Kenneth (Gloria) Okland of Moorcroft Wyo.; Doug (Marsha) Okland of Missoula, Mont.; and his sister, Marjorie Reed of Moorcroft, Wyo.
Clay was preceded in death by his father, mother, step father ( Nolan E. Lawlar), and one brother, Thomas E. Okland.
Cremation has taken place and internment will be in the Garden Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or the Connie Wold Wellness Center in Watford City, N.D.
