Marcella Steiner

More than a century ago, the lamplighter walked the village streets at dusk, bringing light to every pathway so the townspeople would feel safe and be guided by the glow of each beacon. Marcy Steiner of Marysville, Wash., brought that same light and comfort to all who knew her.
Marcy was born in Watford City, N.D. on Sept. 2, 1936, to Carnie and  Alice Mickleson, and passed away peacefully on July 27, 2009, with her family at her side. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend; a brilliant storyteller; a passionate bargain-hunter; and a woman of integrity and character.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Don Locken; and her daughters, Anita and Bunita.
Marcy leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Ron; brothers, Delbert, Larry and Elmer; sisters, Shirley and Sheryl; daughter, Lynn; son, Don; daughter-in-law, Denice; son-in-law, Steve; grandchildren,  Desiree,  Jessica, Stephen, Danielle and Taylor; and her great-grandchildren, Malique and Aviana.
Services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, Wash.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Arts to Heal Hearts Foundation. The family has established this foundation to honor Marcy and her daughter, Bunita. The foundation’s goal is to provide art classes and programs for children who have lost family to cancer and other illnesses. Donations may be sent to Lynn Garka. PO Box 2011, Snohomish, WA 98291.
