Arnold Ellestad

Arnold Ellestad, 88, a longtime Williston resident, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.
His funeral was celebrated Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Kay Reeb officiated. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery at First Lutheran Church north of Keene, N.D.
Arnold was born in Keene, N.D., on Dec. 27, 1924, to Gerhard and Harriet (Gould) Ellestad. He was raised and educated in Keene and Watford City.
Arnold married Fern Brenna on Dec. 11, 1949, at Fern’s parents’ farm.
At an early age Arnold took over the family homestead farm in Keene. After leaving the farm, he was an oil field worker, a mechanic, and a real estate agent.  He also remodeled houses for years.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fern, four children, Ray Ellestad (Carol) of Boise, Idaho, June Ellestad (Lloyd Holland) of Missoula, Mont., Betty Ellestad (Jim Agre) of Williston, and Dan Klevenberg of Williston, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Ellestad (Ilean) of Lewistown, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the UMM Bible Camp.
