Cody Ames

Cody Ames, 30, of Williston, N.D,, died Saturday morning, March 9 2013, outside of Williston, N.D.
His funeral was held Friday afternoon, March 15, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2:00 p.m. in Williston. Bishop David Parker officiated and interment followed in Riverview Cemetery.
Cody Hamlin Ames was born Oct. 19, 1982, to Mike Ames and Jan (Shipp) Ames in Williston, N.D., and was a lifelong resident. His appreciation for the outdoors began at a young age as he grew up taking regular family trips to the Missouri River and Lake Sakakawea. Every year, he looked forward to family canoe trips down the river, fishing trips to Canada, and pheasant hunting with his family and friends. He found a way to spend even more time enjoying the outdoors as he traded in his bicycle for a motorcycle and rode nearly every day.
He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when he was eight years old and served others as a member there. He was an accomplished member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle by working hard and attending many Scout camps. Cody excelled at basketball by honing his skills while playing early morning basketball with his father, his brother, Brandon, and his friends. He carried his basketball talents with him into Williston High School where he found success helping his team make a run through the state tournament. After high school Cody attended the University of North Dakota.
Following his return to Williston from UND, Cody married Jessica Klevenberg on May 14, 2005, in Williston. Cody and Jessica started a family together and had four amazing children. He was a family man in every sense of the word. He loved his wife dearly, adored his three daughters, and was a very proud father of a son who tried to emulate him in every way.
Cody worked his way through Agri Industries and later Ames Manufacturing until he became an owner of Ames Manufacturing with his brother Kyle. Ames Manufacturing was perfect for him, as he enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction of building, welding, creating and fixing almost anything. One of Cody’s favorite things about working was it afforded him the opportunity to spend more time with Kyle. The two were nearly inseparable. Cody relied on Kyle as a neighbor, riding companion, confidant, camping buddy and best friend.  He possessed an admirable dedication and loyalty to his job, his family and his friends.
His passion for the river and the outdoors only increased as his family grew. Cody could never have too many family members or friends around him. His joy seemed to increase as the family expanded. Cody was a big guy and he loved everything big. He loved his big Cummins pickup with big wheels, his big Honda motorcycle and his couch big enough for the entire family. He had a big John Deere tractor to take care of his big yard that he needed for his big dog and his big family. But none of these things could measure up to his big warm smile, his big hugs and his even bigger heart.
Cody is survived by his wonderful wife, Jessica; their son, Cooper; daughters, Londyn, Brynna and Finley, all of Williston; his parents, Mike and Jan Ames, Williston; brothers, Brandon Ames, St. George, Utah; Kyle Ames, Williston; sisters, Jasmine (Ames) Lindstrom and Lacey (Ames) Forthun, both of Williston; his grandfathers, Lawrence Shipp, Glasgow, Mont.; Richard Ames, Billings, Mont.; and grandmother, Kay Sullivan, Williston.
