Funeral services for Olga Anderson, 93, of Keene, N.D., were held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Keene First Lutheran Church with Rev. Rob Favorite officiating. Burial was in the churchyard Good Hope Cemetery.
Olga Anderson was born at Spring Creek, N.D., the daughter of Einar and Martha (Johnson) Dahl on Sept. 22, 1919. She was raised on the family homestead along with two sisters and four brothers. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed into the Spring Creek Lutheran Church on March 21, 1937. Olga was educated at the Shaw School in Spring Creek and at Watford City High School where she graduated in 1937. She then went to Bismarck to attend the Capital Commercial Business College for two years.
After college Olga moved to St Helen, Ore., where she worked for a year before returning to Watford City, where she worked at Stenslie’s Department Store and then OK Implement. She later worked for the McKenzie County Rationing Office, traveling by train from Watford City to Fairview as part of her job.
On Jan. 14, 1944, Olga was united to John Anderson at Sidney, Mont. They moved into an old schoolhouse located on John’s father’s farm near Charlson, N.D. Olga moved into the Horizon Assisted Living in 2003 and into the Good Shepherd Home in August 2005, both of which are in Watford City. She loved the care and friendship she found in the Good Shepherd Home for the past seven years.
Olga was active in her church, Keene First Lutheran, serving as an officer in the Ladies’ Aid and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also active in Republican Women. Olga and John were 4-H leaders for 15 years. For many years, Olga taught ceramics classes out of her home and her family is blessed to have many of her pieces.
Olga enjoyed the summers at the lake with family and friends. For 12 years, she and John made Mesa, Ariz., their winter home and she loved golfing both there and back in North Dakota.
