Billy Maynard

Billy (Bill) Maynard, 74, formerly of Watford City, N.D., passed away March 15, 2012, at the Colorado State Veterans home in Walsenburg, Colo., after a battle with cancer.
Bill was born Jan. 19, 1938, to Thomas Grady and Alice (Barlow) Maynard in Bleckley County, Georgia. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and retired after 22 years of service. In 1974, he married Cheryl Rogness from Watford City while he was stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C. and she at Fort Gordon, Ga. After Bill retired, they moved back to Watford City, N.D. They had two children, Stacy and Ryan. Bill worked at Rink Construction, Great Plains Supply and many years at McKenzie Electric. In 1990, Bill went to work as a meter technician at K.C. Electric in Stratton, Colo.
After Bill retired, he moved Pueblo, Colo. Bill liked to hunt and fish. He also played a variety of musical instruments.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Stacy and her special friend, Chris Sears, and his daughter, Jazmine of Pueblo, Colo.; grandson, Aaron Maynard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Cheryl Maynard of Watford City, N.D.; brothers: Lafayette Maynard of Mississippi, Harold Maynard, Freddy and Lester Maynard; sister, Carolyn Landreau; sister-in-law, Shirley Maynard and their families, all from Georgia; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Alvin and Wilma Rogness; brother, Frank Maynard, and son, Ryan Maynard.
Cremation has taken place in Colorado Springs, Colo. and there will be a memorial service in Watford City at a later date. Bill’s remains will be laid to rest at Tee Pee Butte Cemetery in rural Watford City.
