Leone Carson

Leone Carson, 80, of Grassy Butte, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer.
Funeral services for Leone were held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Grassy Butte with Pastor Jay Reinke officiating. Burial followed at the Grassy Butte Cemetery.
Leone Jost was born May 23, 1931, on the family ranch in McKenzie County, the daughter of Elmer and Barbara (Kowis) Jost. She grew up, attended Rhodes Grade School and graduated from Killdeer High School. As a young woman, she taught at the Scoria Buttes School. On June 21, 1951, Leone was united in marriage to Raymond Carson in Wibaux, Mont. To this union, three sons, Ron, Monty and Gary were born. Together they ranched and raised their family in the Grassy Butte area. When the boys were young, Leone and Ray followed them to many rodeos around the country. She loved doing anything that was competitive, especially horseshoes, bowling and playing cards. Leone enjoyed family gatherings and truly loved her grandchildren and great-grand-grandchildren. Leone became a caring caretaker at a young age. When her mother passed away, she helped raise her two younger sisters, Gwen and Elda Faye. In her later years, she helped care for her father, Elmer.
Leone is survived by her three sons, Ron (Jody Hintz) Carson of Grassy Butte, Monty (Carrie) Carson of Grassy Butte, Gary (Diane) Carson of Grassy Butte; three brothers, Arnold (Patsy) Jost of Burlington, Blaine (Dixie) Jost of Everett, Wash., Clarence (Roberta) Jost of Watford City; three sisters, Evelyn Medlang of Seattle, Wash., Gwen Sauvageau of Dickinson, Elda Faye Solberg of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Donna Jost of Williston; five grandsons, Ross (Dawn) Carson of Killdeer, Josh Carson of Dickinson, Chase Carson of Dickinson, Jayme (Michelle) Carson of Bismarck, and Layne Carson of Dickinson; three great-grandchildren, Cannin and Cashin Carson of Killdeer and Maggie Carson of Dickinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Barbara Jost; husband, Raymond Carson; and brother, Wesley Jost.
