Estella Magdalen (Neubauer) Stavn, 84, was born May 26, 1927, on the family farm in McKenzie County, N.D., the fourth child of Wenzel and Magdalen (Klein) Neubauer. She grew up on the family farm and attended area schools with the graduating Class of 1944. In March 1944, she married Clifford K. Stavn in Sidney, Mont. They made their home in Watford City except for brief periods in Seattle, Wash., and Pueblo, Colo. Six children were born to this union.
Estella was very active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary at the local, district and state levels, serving as North Dakota State President in 1965-66 and later as North Dakota State Soloist for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling for over 41 years, becoming North Dakota State Singles Champion in 1975. Music, singing and dancing were always a significant part of her life and she loved to travel. In later years, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. Estella hand-crocheted afghans for each of her six children, and every one of her 15 grandchildren. The year 2010-11 was very special for Estella when she welcomed three great-grandchildren. Estella was one of the founding members of the Friendly 15 Homemakers Club in Watford City.
