Alice Satter

Alice K. Satter, 95 of Watford City, N.D., a resident of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home died at the home on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home with Pastoral Intern Rob Favorite officiating. Burial will be held at the Garden Cemetery northeast of Watford City.
Alice Kristine Bergee was born Sept. 5, 1915, on the Bergee Homestead in Garden Township, McKenzie County, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Torstein and Margrete (Teigum) Bergee. She was raised on the family farm and educated in a rural setting, Timber Prong School and later Watford City High School, graduating in 1933.
She was united in marriage to Olaf Satter at the Banks Lutheran parsonage on Sept. 24, 1940. To this union two children, Richard and Susan, were born. Together they raised their family on the farm, and were good stewards on the land, raising small grains and cattle. Olaf preceded Alice in death after fifty years of marriage on March 21, 1990, at Watford City, N.D.
Alice was always an intricate part of the family farm and of her church and community, She worked when she was younger at the Lusk’s Grocery Store and worked at the Seed Loan Office and at W.R. Olson’s (now O.K. Implement) as a bookkeeper for a time. She was always active in her church at Garden Lutheran and the Ladies Aid, director at Grail School before the merger with Ideal Township, member of the Hospital and Good Shepherd Nursing Home Auxiliaries, She served nine years as a director at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, enjoyed her involvement with Senior Citizen’s Choir, Young at Heart and Busy Hands Homemakers.
Alice is survived by her children, Richard (Stephanie) Satter, of Bremerton, Wash., Susan (Jens) Jensen, of Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren, Scott (Katrina) Satter, Jodi (Greg) Fordahl, Jonette (Martin) Vaughan, David (Carly) Cahoon, Kristopher (Kimberly) Cahoon, Cara (Brett) Johansen, fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Olaf in 1990; parents; sisters, Beatrice Satter and Mabel Amundson; and brother, Harry Bergee.
