Spikers win own invite

Watford City’s varsity girls volleyball team is off to one of its best starts in recent years as the Wolves’ season record stands at 9-0 after defeating Tioga and New Town in dual matches this past week, and then winning the gold division at the Watford City Invitational on Saturday.
This week, the Wolves will host Beulah on Sept. 16 and Ray on Sept. 21.
Watford City 3, Tioga 0
Watford City blanked Tioga in three quick games last Tuesday defeating the Pirates by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16.
Marti Quale led the Wolves with five service aces and 24 assists.

Watford City picked up its third straight win of the season last Thursday as the Wolves rolled over the New Town Eagles in three quick games by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-14.
Marti Quale led the Wolves with nine service aces, while Dani Bates had seven kills.

Watford City Invitational
Watford City kept its winning streak intact on Saturday as the Wolves won six matches to win the Gold Division in the Watford City Invitational.
In pool play, the Wolves defeated Parshall 25-14 and 25-16, Bowman 25-18 and 25-20 and Powers Lake 25-13 and 25-13 to advance to the gold division of the tournament.
In first round action of tournament play, Watford City defeated New England by scores of 25-19 and 25-19. In semifinal action against Burke County, the Wolves dropped their first game 25-17 and then took the next two games by scores of 25-15 and 19-17 to advance to the title game against Divide County.
In the championship game, it was all Watford City as the Wolves cruised to the tournament title defeating the Maroons 25-18 and 25-21.
