Watford City’s American Legion baseball team is off to a good start as the Walleye picked up wins over Garrison and Tioga last week to improve their season record to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
The Walleye defeated Garrison 7-6 and 15-3 in their opening action and then bested Tioga 8-3 and 6-4 on the road.
This week, the Walleye will be on the road when they take on Stanley on Thursday, Crosby on Friday and Sidney on Tuesday.

Watford City had to battle back from a 6-2 deficit to defeat Garrison 7-6 in the first game of a double-header to open the Walleye’s season on June 14.
The Walleye held a 2-1 lead at the end of four innings of play, but a five-run fifth inning put Garrison on top 6-2. Watford City chipped away at the lead scoring one run in the sixth inning and then scored three runs in the seventh with Douglas Rolfson driving in the game-tying runs.
Nick Liebel then drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning.
On the mound for the Walleye, Rolfson pitched five innings giving up five runs on eight hits, while striking out five batters and walking three. Ben Haugeberg worked 2-1/3 innings striking out five batters while Trey Jacobson pitched 2/3 of an inning.
At the plate, Jacobson was two for five with a double and two runs scored, Dillon Langerud was four for four with a single and three runs scored, Liebel was two for four with one RBI, Ben Haugeberg was three for four with a double and two RBIs, Rolfson was two for four with two doubles and three RBIs, and Chris Larsen was one for four with one RBI.
In the second game of the double -header, the Walleye out-hit the Titans 12-3 to crush Garrison 15-3.
Nick Liebel picked up the win on the mound for Watford City giving up just one run on one hit in two innings of work, while Ben Haugeberg came in to close out the game giving up two runs on two hits in three innings of pitching.
At the plate, Trey Jacobson was three for four with two home runs and six RBIs and three runs scored, Reid Johnson was two for two with one double and two RBIs and three runs scored, Paul Martin was three for three with three RBIs and two runs scored, Blake Wold was one for three with two RBIs and two runs scored, Nick Liebel was one for two with one RBI, and Douglas Rolfson was two for three with three runs scored.

The Walleye swept Tioga 8-3 and 6-4 in double-header action on June 16.
Dillon Langerud earned the win in the first game striking out four batters while giving up seven hits in seven innings of work.
The Walleye trailed Tioga 1-0 after four innings but came back to score seven runs in the fifth inning.
At the plate, Doug Rolfson was three for four with one RBI, Paul Martin was two for three with one RBI, Trey Jacobson was one for five with one RBI, Dillon Langerud was one for three with one RBI, Nick Liebel was one for three with one RBI, Reid Johnson was one for four and Chris Larsen was one for three.
Paul Martin picked up the win for the Walleye in the second game.
At the plate, Doug Rolfson was two for two with three RBIs, Dillon Langerud was two for three with two RBIs, Ben Haugeberg was one for two with a double and one RBI, Trey Jacobson, Nick Liebel and Doug Nordby were one for three and Jayden Grotte was one for two.
