Spikers rally to beat Heart River

Watford City rallied from an early two-game deficit to take the next three games to defeat the Heart River Cougars in the Wolves’ final home volleyball match of the season on Thursday, Oct. 29.
And what a match it was as both teams traded 80 kills and 138 digs in the slugfest that played out to a packed house.
The Wolves had 46 kills, eight bocks and 56 digs, while the Cougars ended the five-game set with 34 kills, seven blocks and 82 digs.
Heart River bested the Wolves, 25-22 and 25-14, in the first two games, with the Wolves coming back to take the next three games, 25-18, 25-21, and 15-11.
Katie Mogen led Watford City with 25 kills, 24 digs and five blocks, while Alli Mogen had 27 assists and Brea Jore and ReiAnn Lindley had three service aces.
“It was an intense match,” stated Brad Foss, Wolves’ head coach. “The stats from those five games are amazing and attest to how hard both teams played.”
This week, the Wolves will be wrapping up their District 15 Tournament action with the top four teams from advancing to the Region 8 Tournament.
The Region 8 Tournament begins on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Ray High School Gymnasium with the top team advancing to the State Class B Tournament.
