Grimes throws no-hitter to down Heart River 27-3

Watford City’s varsity girls softball team picked up two wins this past week as the Wolves downed Heart River, 27-3, and then battled back to defeat Kenmare-Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, 14-12.
Kamryn Grimes was untouchable on Monday, April 21, as she threw a no-hitter to propel Watford City to  a 27-3 win over Heart River. Grimes struck out eight batters, while giving up eight walks in the win.
While Grimes handled Heart River on the mound, Watford City’s bats took care of the offense. The Wolves scored 21 runs in the first three innings to set the tone for the game.
For the game, nine Watford City batters combined for 15 hits, 13 RBIs and 25 runs scored.
Kara Langerud racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Wolves as she doubled in the second inning, tripled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
The Wolves continued to keep their winning streak alive on Friday in a hard-fought, 14-12, victory against Kenmare-MLS that saw 26 runs cross the plate.
The two teams traded runs for most of the game with the lead changing hands 10 times before the Wolves would take the lead for good on a five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning.
McKenna Mayne racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Wolves, while Kamryn Grimes recorded the win as she struck out nine, walked 14 and surrendered 12 hits.
