Watford City boys split in varsity basketball action

The Watford City varsity boys basketball team split a pair of games this past week as the Wolves fell to Ray, 55-46, on Feb. 9, and then came back to defeat Dickinson Trinity, 78-68, on Saturday.
This week, Watford City will close out its regular season schedule on Thursday when the Wolves host Killdeer.

Ray 55, Watford City 46
Ray proved to be the better team last Monday evening as the Jays knocked off the Wolves, 55-46.
The Jays outscored the Wolves in the first three quarters and led Watford City, 47-33, going into the final eight minutes of play. While the Wolves would battle back in the fourth quarter, they weren’t able to overcome the 14-point deficit.
David Kline and Seth Indergard led the Wolves in scoring with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
Also scoring for Watford City was Cameron Runnels with six points, Cole McGorman with five points, while Bo Cook and Logan Fettig ended the game with three points each.

Watford City 78, Dickinson Trinity 68
A huge, 31-point second quarter sparked the Wolves to a 78-68 win over Dickinson Trinity last Saturday.
David Kline had the hot hand for the Wolves as he netted a game high 28 points as he connected on six of 10 from inside the three-point arc and drilled five of 10 behind the arc.
The Wolves trailed the Titans, 12-9, at the end of the first quarter of play, but the 31-point second quarter scoring spree would propel Watford City to a 12-point, 40-28, halftime advantage.
Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter with the Titans outscoring Watford City, 21-20, to slightly trim their deficit. Watford City then held on to take the win.
Joining Kline in double-digit scoring for Watford City was Seth Indergard and Cameron Runnels, who finished the game with 21 and 14 points, respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for Watford City was Cole McGorman and Bo Cook with five points each, Charlie Villanueva and Korbin Knutson with two points each and Logan Fettig with one point.
