Oilers skate to three wins

The Watford City Junior Gold hockey team had a big weekend of hockey as they won three games.
On Friday night, the Oilers were at home against the Richland Rangers and defeated Sidney by a score of 7 to 1. On Saturday, Watford City traveled to Crosby for a tough league game against the Comets and skated to a 4-3 win. Sunday was the Oilers’ last home game of the season with Watford City defeating the Walsh County (Park River) Warriors, 5-2.
Scoring this weekend was Jon Dunn, four goals and one assist; Dalton Wright, three goals and one assist;  Eric Hellandsaas, two goals and one assist; Bridger Morken, two goals and one assist; Beau Heiser, one goal and four assists; Ted Ramage, one goal and two assists; Derrike Hayden one goal and one assist; Cody Johnson, one goal and one assist; James Devers, one goal; Brandon Allex, two assists; Cody Kirkland, one assist; and Daniel Marmon, one assist.
Quayde Shores had 69 saves in the net over the weekend.
With the wins this past weekend, the Oilers secured the No. 2 seed going into the State Tournament, which will be held in Crosby on Feb. 27, 28 and March 1, at the new Northwest Health and Wellness Center. The No. 2 seed Oilers will play the No. 7 seed Richland Rangers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
