The Watford City boys basketball team split in varsity basketball action this past week as the Wolves fell to the Parshall Braves, 66-63, on Tuesday before bouncing back to pick up a 56-50 overtime win over Dickinson Trinity on Saturday.
This week, the Wolves, who are 10-7 on the season, will enter the District 15 Tournament. The tournament will begin on Feb. 13 at the Northern Lights Community Center in New Town.
As the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the Wolves will receive a first round bye with their first tournament game taking place at 7 p.m. on Friday against the winner of the North Shore/Plaza vs. Mandaree game.

Parshall 66, Watford City 63
Watford City very nearly pulled off a huge come-from-behind win over the Parshall Braves last Tuesday. But while the Wolves had all of the momentum in the fourth quarter, Watford City just wasn’t able to dig itself out of the 14-point hole they found themselves in after three quarters of play.
After playing a very close first quarter, which saw the Braves hold a 14-13 lead, Parshall opened up its lead to five points, 36-31, at halftime.
But a disastrous third quarter of scoring proved to be Watford City’s undoing. In the third quarter, the Braves went on a 17-8 scoring spree  from which Watford City wasn’t able to recover.
David Kline and Mitchell Liebel provided the Wolves’ offensive one-two punch as the pair netted 25 and  16 points, respectively.
Also scoring for Watford City was  Logan Fettig with eight points, Andrew Sampsel with six points, Bo Cook with four points, while Dustin Kleppen and Seth Indergard ended the game with two points each.
