Wolves advance to Region 8 Volleyball Tournament

With a decisive 3-0 win over the Trenton Tigers on Thursday, Nov. 3, the Watford City varsity volleyball team punched their ticket to the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament that got underway this past Monday.
The Wolves, who opened the District 15 Tournament with a 3-0 win over Parshall, fell to Williston Trinity Christian 3-2 on Tuesday setting up the must-win match against Trenton.
The Region 8 Tournament is being played at the Tioga High School gymnasium with the third place and championship games being played on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Trinity Christian 3, Watford City 2

It was a fight to the finish as the Trinity Christian Crusaders, the No. 2 ranked team in District 15, and the Watford City Wolves, the No. 3 ranked district team, squared off last Tuesday night for the right to take on Stanley in the District 15 Tournament championship.
In a match that wasn’t settled until the fifth game, Watford City took the first game 27-25 with the Crusaders edging the Wolves 26-24 in the second game.
Watford City took the third game 25-12 but the Crusaders bounced back to knock off the Wolves 25-20 in the fourth game.
In the fifth and deciding game, Trinity Christian bested Watford City 15-12 in a hard-fought game.
McKayla Haugeberg and Brianna Allex led the Wolves with 14 and 12 kills, respectively, while Charlie Hystad had two service aces.

Region Qualifier
Watford City 3, Trenton 0

Watford City made short work of Trenton in the first of two regional qualifier games during the District 15 Volleyball Tournament on Thursday as the Wolves swept the Tigers 3-0.
The Wolves downed Trenton 25-9, 25-18 and 25-20 to earn a berth in the Region 8 Tournament in Tioga.
Charlie Hystad led the Wolves with two service aces and nine kills.
