Three Watford City varsity girl golfers finished in the top ten as the Wolves finished in second place in an 11-team invitational at the Watford City Golf Course on Saturday, April 25.
Krystle Folland led the Wolves with an 18-hole score of 100 to finish eighth, while Karson Pederson and Emilie Anderson tied at 102 and went to a tie breaker to finish ninth and tenth, respectively.
“I am very pleased with the way the ladies played,” stated LeRoy Bettenhausen, girls head coach. “They improved in every way. In fact, they improved by 20 strokes in their team score from the practice dual held against the Hazen Bison on April 21.” Rounding out the team score for the Wolves was Samantha Schwan, shooting 107 for 15th place, and Bessie Schmitz and Shaunta Miller with 109.
“We have been focusing on chipping and putting in practice, and this has paid off in improved individual scores,” said Bettenhausen. “We need to concentrate on course management in order to improve our ability to read the greens better.”
The next action for the varsity ladies will be the State Qualifier at Ray on Thursday, April 30.
